Re: Dr. John MC DOWELL and Uriah MC DOWELL both associated with
Adams cty,
PA and both living in Gettysburg area in the 1840s and 1850s. I am
trying to
find out the parentage of John MC DOWELL and if he is the same Dr.
John
McDowell in Warren Cty, IL in the 1860s and thereafter. Would there be
a
researcher of McDowell families in Warren Cty and Knox Cty IL that know
the
background of Dr. John McDowell? The one in Adams Cty, PA : Dr. John
McDowell b.ca 1810, PA; m. 1839 in Adams Cty, PA to Nancy McPherson
(1811-1840) of Adams Cty,PA. The couple had a son John Reynolds
McDowell
(1840-1840) and died in Adams Cty, PA several weeks after his mother.
A
newspaper article mentions that Dr. John McDowell went West. I descend
from
Uriah McDowell who per oral history lived in Warren Cty from about
1860-1870
when he took his family to Decatur Cty, IA. Uriah does not appear in
1865
Warren Cty IL census as a head of household. Other families associated
with
McDowells in Warren Cty (probably the eastern edge) are WISE; REDD; and
OVERHOLTZER/OBERHOTZER.

Hello:
I am researching HEZEKIAH WM. & MARGARET STOUD DAVIS family. They
would have
been in Warren Co. about 1830's . In 1841 twins were brn Elia and
Levi. The
info is from pension papers and census. The problem is it also says
Jackson
Co. IL. as birth of twins in the census. Interested in FRANCIS STROUD
2nd
wife of HEZEKIAH DAVIS. Pension records state twin ELI DAVIS md.
MARGARET
KELLEY. Now the strange part, I find MARGARET KELLEY md. to JOHN
KELLEY in
Barry Co. MO. in 1870. G-Grandmother MARYANN MEACHUM DAVIS allways
told me a
couple of her Dad's bros were killed on a wagon train heading west. Is
there
a chance any of these folks were Mormons? HEZEKIAH in later life was a
Baptist minister in Fulton Co. AR, This family has been very hard to
reseach.
Thanks for any help,
Marian

I am looking for a Failor family that lived in Monmouth.
Alexander Failor married Martha Leiby on April 29, 1855.
They had two sons that I know of:
William was born in 1856 and married Ellen Leighton on November
12, 1879
at Galesburg. Ellen was born 1858, in Copley Township. Ellen gave
birth to
William Alexander May 25, 1880 in Galesburg. Something must have
happened to
William as Ellen married his brother John E. Failor on October 28, 1881
at
Monmouth. John was born 1862 in Illinois.
Ellen was the daughter of John and Jessie Russell.
I am interested in obtaining obituaries, if any, for these individuals
and
locating their graves.
Thank you.

Madison
CO in the 1850s. One of the son's Solon Powers was m to Sarah Morris
1831
Butler CO. OH. Land was entered by Solon in Illinois but I think he
died
before the land was deeded to him and father Aaron or brother Aaron was
deeded
the land.
I have the Solon Powers family for the 1850 census but can't locate
them after
that.

I need some help finding information on a John FRANKLIN who
married Harriet BAKER about 1840. John and Harriet are both
from England but I think that they married in Warren County.
In the 8150 Census of Warren county, John and Harriet along
with the following children, Henry age 8, Sarah age 5, Mary
age 4, Albert age 4, are all living in Kelly TWP. They are
still in Kelly TWP in 1870,and in 1880 Albert Franklin has
married and his wife is Elizabeth Caroline CROSBY.
Albert and Elizabeth later moved to Iowa.
Hoping that someone could look and see if Harriet and John
FRANKLIN were married in Warren County for me.
Thank you in advance for any help that could be provided.

My gr-grandfather, Francis CAVANAUGH lived Monmouth, Warren
County from at least 1861-1876. He married 3 times:(1)Catharine
MILLS (2)Eliza FALON/FALLON 1861 Monmouth (3) Catharine
FITZGERALD 1862 Monmouth. Catharine FITZGERALD was my
gr-grandmother. They had 8 children, including my grandfather, Dennis
b:1876 Taylor Co., IA. Family tradition is that Francis and Eliza had
twins, one died at birth, along with the mother, and the other lived to
about age 12 and was living with a foster family at the time of death.
Nothing has been found to support this story. Francis died in 1882 and
his estate was probated in Taylor Co., IA., however, no other record of
his burial or death has been found. Did he die somewhere besides
Taylor Co.? Possibly he was a Civil War soldier - I'm told there is
something in the History of Warren County regarding a
KAVANAUGH. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to check that
for me. I would be very appreciative. He was a registered voter in
Monmouth, Warren County, but I've found no supporting record.
Francis and Catharine had 8 children, the first 5 born Monmouth.
Francis also had one son born to his first marriage, James Hugh, some
of his descendants still live in the area. I will appreciate any help at
all.

This is perhaps more of a question than a query to be posted. My gg
grandfather moved to Warren Co in 1866 and moved on in 1869 - so he
missed
the census there. Does Warren Co have a Farmer's census for that time
period??
Thanks
