Warren county query: My ancestor, Cynthia Ann Woodring, married Jonas Tedrow in Warren Co. on 2 June 1859. He deserted her 8 months later and she was granted a divorce in 1865. She married Wm. Ramp (Warren Co) in 1865 and they moved to Lyon Co, KS. In her divorce papers a Simon P? B? Bishop testified to the facts in the case saying he had known her since she was about 9 years old. She was born in OHIO in 1842. Who was Bishop? Was he related....a brother-in-law? step-father? Ohio friend? She also had a brother , William Woodruff (should be Woodring) in IL. She and her infant son, Hiram, lived with him for over a year after Jonas left. Where was William? He was not in Warren Co in 1860. Who were her parents? She stated that she came to IL in 1858.

I have found what I believe to be my grandfather in the 1880 Census living in Warren County with a couple named Denis and Mary Murphy. I have found the Map Coordinates 404757N0903218W. Would there exist information as to whether these people owned the land they were on, and if so, records of how they acquired it, etc. Thanks for any help you can give.

Moved to Hancock Co., Il where first son, Hiram Benson Richey was born 7 Oct 1834. Family moved to Muscatine Co., Iowa shortly there after as he appears in the 1840 Iowa Census.
He served in the J.M. HAMILTON COmpany of the IL. State Militia during the Blackhawk War of 1832. This info found on the FTW site.
Information from Mark Sorenson of the IL State Archives states: John Ritchey of Warren Co. who warned the troops that Indians were threatening the fort near "Ritchie's Grove" which was named after either Adam, or John Ritchie, the first Warren County coroner who died of cholera in 1835. SOPER, harry a. -- married to Emma Schwartz on Feb.23, 1898 in North Henderson, IL . She was born on April 12, 1877. I think they had one child named Wardie. I know he lived in Warren County, Cameron, IL in 1922. His parents were George W. and Mary (Horth) Soper who lived in the area called Soperville/Galesburg. According to a 1880 census he was 10 years old at that time, however they recorded his name as Mary. I would like to know his birth date and date of death plus anything else you may learn about him or his family. I will be happy to pay any fees that may be needed for your research.
Thank you.

I am seeking information on Olivia S. CLINE, listed as a surving child in the will of Col. John Butler, a long time Warren County resident. Col Butler and his wife Mary Adney Butler came to Warren County in the 1830', living in Greenbush, and later in Avon, Fulton County. Col Butler is listed in several publications including Early Days in Greenbush, and at least 2 History of Fulton County publications from the late 1800's. I know a number of details on his other children, but only recently came across the mention of Olivia.
